Windsurfing
on Hatteras Island Kitty Hawk Sports and Windsurfing Hatteras merged in 1997. Both businesses have had retail outlets on Hatteras Island since the late 1980s. Windsurfing Hatteras continues to trade under its name but will take advantage of the strong recognition that Kitty Hawk Sports enjoys in the Outer Banks watersports business. "The consolidation of these shops creates a true windsurfing megashop. The brands that we've carried in each shop are now available under one roof.
