Plans for 2013 Bodie Island Lighthouse Keepers'
Descendants Homecoming in Progress!

The Outer Banks Lighthouse Society Mission
The Outer Banks Lighthouse Society (OBLHS) was organized in 1994 to aid in the preservation of the lighthouses in the area and work with the National Park Service (NPS) and other agencies and non-profit groups to achieve the safe-keeping of the buildings, artifacts and records of the old United States Lighthouse Establishment, a.k.a. U.S. Light-House Board and Bureau of Lighthouses and U.S. Lighthouse Service. OBLHS is an all-volunteer organization.

In keeping with our mission, OBLHS held a homecoming for over 1,100 Cape Hatteras Lighthouse keepers' descendants in 2001 during a special weekend event. Because of its tremendous success, we are planning a homecoming Spring 2013 for descendants of Bodie Island Lighthouse keepers. In partnership with the NPS, the Outer Banks History Center, and The Friends of the Outer Banks History Center, we wish to pay tribute to the faithful keepers who served at this significant American light station and their families. We are calling the event the BOLD Homecoming.

If you are a direct descendant including son/daughter, grandson, great grandson, etc., please fill out the form below and submit to us. We will review your family information and get back in touch with you either by phone, email, or postal mail.

We are looking forward to this event and its many exciting aspects. We will create a brief publication for the occasion as well as compile family history charts on your family groups for display and for you to keep. Our success is dependent on your participation!

Safe journeys,

Cheryl Shelton-Roberts, BOLD Homecoming Chair
Sandra MacLean Clunies, Certified Genealogist
