About the Gallery:
Blue Pelican Gallery is a quaint Island Gallery featuring the work of
several local (Hatteras Island and North Carolina) artists who offer
framed and unframed photography and illustrations, hand carved and
painted birds, jewelry, pottery, tiles, ornaments, puzzles, CDs,
gifts and much more. The local work is supplemented with glass and
metal art and pottery from other American artisans. Located in the
heart of Hatteras Village, approximately one mile from the
Hatteras-Ocracoke ferry docks, the Blue Pelican is a great place to
browse, relax, sample the local culture, and even find a way to
capture your memories of the Outer Banks through art.
About the Owner:
"Jenn" Johnson is a lifelong Hatteras Island resident. She attended
UNC-CH on a Morehead Scholarship, and graduated with a degree in
Journalism before returning to Hatteras. She worked with a real
estate company until January 2006. At the urging of friends and
family, she turned her photography hobby into a career, exploring the
beauty of nature around her through photos, and opening Blue Pelican
Gallery (which also features her unique handmade one-of-a-kind
jewelry) in Hatteras Village.
