Closed Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Days. The North Carolina Aquarium on Roanoke Island is operated by the NC Department of Environment, Health and Natural Resources. Sister Aquariums are located at Pine Knoll Shores and Fort Fisher. The Roanoke Island facility is located three miles north of Manteo on Airport Road. It is adjacent to the Dare County Regional Airport and overlooks the Croatan Sound. Admission fees are required.
