"There doesn't appear to be much damage near Waves and Rodanthe. This storm took us by surprise, and was a bit stronger than anticipated. The only problem I have, is that my landscaped yard is a mess of small branches and other minor debris.

The main difference in this storm compared to others, is that since there was no evacuation, there are lots of people as "storm survivors" who strolled the beach after the storm. And as with many of these tropical events, the sky was dramatic as Alex sped away." Michael Halminski - August 3, 2004
